In W&L's production of the play, during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, we taught the students the gestures from Bulwer's Chirologia, a 17th Century system of hand and physical gestures designed to intensify the emotional and symbolic meaning of human language.

Because the students were masked and we had to film the production, this unique approach enabled the students not only a wonderful opportunity to learn 17th century style, but to bring it to life more fully, even though their faces were covered.
