Defending the Arts in Crisis

This is going to be a blog about how we can work together to make art thrive even in a culture where the Arts are under attack financially every day. First, I'm going to re-read Lewis Hyde's book The Gift and blog about that. Then I'm going to begin to work on new models of making art -- process and product, that can function and thrive, not just survive. This is a picture from last year's production of Metamorphoses at Calvin College. A piece of art that was so beautiful to make every day and it's this experience that I come back to in order to seek a way forward, where the sacredness of story can shape us all into a better community, a better world.
